P-TIG

About P-TIG

Pulse TIG welding is most commonly used to weld thin sections of stainless steel, and non-ferrous metals such as aluminium, magnesium and copper alloys. Pulse current characteristics are readily used to control the weld pool formation. High heat at peak current & Low heat at base current accelerates the weld pool formation it is further controlled using the variable frequency of pulsing with change in magnitude & time of peak current and base current. This helps to improve the weld properties as gasses from the surrounding atmosphere like hydrogen readily diffuse in the weld pool inducing stress and leading to cracks. Due to controlled heat input, distortion and warpage are minimized especially for dissimilar thickness metal joining. It is also widely used in TIG Welding automation where arc length and travel speed are accurately controlled.
